In 2013, sixteen town residents came together to create a community-oriented weekend of festivities named “Fillmore FunFest”: Darlene & Rich Mason, Tom Barry, (the late) Mel Sonnleitner, Dan Kauffman, Christina & Chad Allen, Dennis Ricketts, Kathy & Roland Burns, Gary Wolfer, Steve Sentz, Linda & Lenny Chojnecki, Bridgette Tojek & Bruce Heinz
The goal was, and still is [to bring families together into our Hume Community for the Memorial Weekend at low to no cost for families].
With the development of the Funfest Committee, some earlier much-enjoyed activities, started by FABA, were able to continue.
Over the years, the FunFest Committee organized, and worked cooperatively within our community, to create a 3-day Memorial Day Celebration of:
• Free Amusement Rides
• Live Music & Vendors
• Cowplop Bingo
• Street Dance & Fireworks
• *Community Church Service – Fillmore Methodist Church
• Pinewood Derby
• Car Show
• Cornhole Tournament
• Co-Ed Softball Tournament
• *Chicken BBQ – Fillmore Volunteer Rescue Squad
• *Memorial Parade – Fillmore Legion
• *Town Team Baseball Game
