I Love My Parks Day – West Almond Trail System
Phillips Creek State Forest and Palmers Pond State Forests will host be the host sites for I Love My Park Day events on May 1st from 1pm to 5pm, with a rain date of May 2nd. Work at both areas will focus on trails that are part of the West Almond Trail System. For Phillips Creek State Forest, volunteers will meet at the State Route 244 parking area. Projects will involve general spring cleanup of the trails, trimming of branches, and putting up trail markers where needed. For Palmers Pond State Forest, volunteers will meet at the Palmers Pond camp area on Geitner Forest Road. Trail work will include general spring cleanup, trimming of branches, and putting up trail markers where needed. Volunteers are asked to bring their own tools such as pruners and/or loppers, hammers, rakes, and small hand saws.
People of all ages and abilities are welcome. Tasks will be matched to volunteer ability and interest. Volunteers must bring their own snacks and/or lunch, drinks, gloves, sturdy shoes, and bug spray. Masks must be worn if social distancing is not possible. Hand sanitizer will be provided. No bathroom facilities will be available on site so please use Leave No Trace principles for this event: https://lnt.org/why/7-principles/.
