It’s National Cheese Lovers Day – and Cuba is Just the Right Place to Celebrate!

January 20, 2023

Once known as the ‘Cheese Center of the World,’ the cheese and dairy heritage of historic and walkable Cuba is something that is celebrated year-round in the Western NY Wilds – making Cuba the perfect place to get your cheese fix on National Cheese Lovers Day!

Park your car on Main Street to explore the village of Cuba on foot.  The Palmer Opera House, located at 12 Main Street, is a testament to the community’s resiliency and is home to the Cuba Cheese Museum.  Discover the history of Cuba cheese and about how the industry is integrally tied to the past and future of the community.  Enjoy a self-guided tour of the museum that features cheese-making memorabilia and traces the industry’s evolution.

Next door at the Perfect Blend Coffeehouse & Eatery, grab a coffee and get a taste of Cuba’s famous cheddar cheese on the appropriately named ‘The Local’ sandwich (we recommend trying it with a cup of homemade tomato soup – the perfect comfort food to warm you up).

No National Cheese Lovers Day trip to Cuba is complete, however, without a visit to the Cuba Cheese Shoppe.  Nothing short of a cheese lover’s dream, you’ll find the widest variety of Cuba Cheeses here – plus just about any other type or flavor of cheese that you could desire!
